Resources


PURPOSE
To share free and paid resources most influential in developing my perspective on current and future world events. My intention is that others may get a sense of where I get my information, be able to validate what I claim, and learn as much as they want on their own.

Resources are sorted as FREE or PAID. At the end is a list of additional resources that I think have possibility.

Don't get caught up in it all and waste your life away. Go deep enough to motivate you to action, then get on with the action. It does no good to watch events we have no control over, regardless of how awful they are.

  • http://www.richardmaybury.com/index.html This is Richard Maybury's site. Just go poke around and read all you can for free. There is quite a bit of stuff. Also google him and his 'Early Warning Report' and read everything you can. Here are a couple of links to interviews with him: The Collapse of the Anglo-American Empire and What it Means for You, The Fall of the American Empire has Begun. Here are his You Tube videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/RichardMaybury. Richard Maybury is an author/historian/economist. He has a unique, vast understanding of history, politics, and economics that he uses to understand and  project where we are headed. Although he is careful not to let religious preferences show in his works, he admittedly views world events from a 'higher law' perspective. I have been blown away by how his works seem to portray truth that is so often missing and even hidden by most of the information we are bombarded with in this life. I respect him greatly. 
  • "Hyperinflation Special Report" by John Williams of shadowstats.com. Go to his website and search for 'Hyperinflation Special Report'. This is by far the best, most concise, data driven, technical analysis I have found of where we are economically as a nation and how we got here. If you read it slowly enough to understand all of the angles he presents and what it actually means if he is correct, you will have all of the motivation you need to get going and take the actions necessary to prepare for what is coming. John Williams makes a living by analyzing economic data. He digs deeper than what is published officially. I believe his data to be the best available anywhere. I believe what this report presents. Take heed!
  • 'Prepare for the Days of Tribulation' by Ezra Taft Benson Prophet of God and Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ. President Benson understood what was happening to this great nation and the precarious situation we were in back in 1980. We would do well to heed his council now as we are once again on the precipice of collapse. Here is my favorite paragraph:
Too often we bask in our comfortable complacency and rationalize that the ravages of war, economic disaster, famine, and earthquake cannot happen here. Those who believe this are either not acquainted with the revelations of the Lord, or they do not believe them. Those who smugly think these calamities will not happen, that they somehow will be set aside because of the righteousness of the Saints, are deceived and will rue the day they harbored such a delusion.
  • Increase awareness. Perhaps this will occur naturally, but conscious effort couldn't hurt. Start to question world events that you already hear about in light of Ben's hypothesis that this world is blowing up and we are about to get clobbered. Things to note include: 
  1. Political stupidity and hubris.
  2. Economic turmoil around the world such as we see in Greece and the rest of the PIIGS as well as other nations.
  3. Civil unrest such as seen in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan, or any other of the apparently 600 or so hot spots around the world as of June 2011.
  4. War and rumors of war.
  5. Natural disasters, famines, etc.

  • Prayer and inspiration from Heavenly Father are free and necessary for the paradigm shift to our new reality. Visiting His house is helpful in this. 
  • Living prophets. Go to lds.org or mormon.org to learn more about them. Also see my post "Don't Take my Word for It."Here is an example of what they are saying:
  • The Scriptures. Some of the books listed in 'PAID' section below are helpful in finding prophecies of the future in the scriptures. Here is an excerpt from Harold B. Lee summarizing some of the key scriptures on the signs of the times.
  • Watch this video about Money, Banking and the Federal Reserve. Yes it is kind of long, but this is important stuff!
  • Sign up for free daily email from Ed Steer at CaseyResearch.com. Just read his conclusion and skim headlines/summaries of the articles he provides links to at the bottom. 
  • http://www.shadowstats.com/ Plenty of excellent stuff available for free. Also subscription newsletter. "Hyperinflation Special Report" is especially good (if you didn't already read it above).
  • http://twitter.com/#!/BenPack This is my twitter account. I try to tweet pertinent internet articles from a multitude of sources and others' tweets as time permits.
  • http://www.heritage.org/budgetchartbook/ some excellent charts here showing where we are headed as a nation. Note that many charts are shown inflation adjusted so when you see the uptrends, it is not just the usual inflation effect, it is real increase in spending. Also note how the entitlements (primarily social security, medicaid, and medicare) are the biggest contributors to our awful situation.

  • http://inflation.us/ "National Inflation Association" These guys get it and are trying to spread the word. Their primary angle is warning of upcoming hyperinflation. Lots of stuff on their site and can sign up for periodic emails.
  • Sign up for emails from thedailybell.com also read the report they send when you sign up  "SECRET ATTACKS BY THE THE GLOBAL ELITE." Read their daily emails and try to digest what they are saying.  Although I do not agree with their premise that the global elite are loosing ground in their quest for a one world government (we can talk more about this), they are a tremendous source of what is currently being circulated, including their analysis of it. 
  • http://www.freedomforceinternational.org/ "Freedom Force International" is an organization founded by G. Edward Griffin, author of "The Creature from Jekyll Island." This book is what really started me on this journey.
  • http://www.theblaze.com/ The Blaze is part of Glenn Beck's work. They offer daily email updates with summaries and links to articles they publish. 
  • http://www.acting-man.com/ Acting Man offers free emails and has some good stuff.
  • http://conhomeusa.typepad.com/home/ Conservative Home is a political site, but there is plenty to do with economics since politics and economics are closely connected these days.
  • http://www.glennbeck.com/ Glenn Beck offers free daily emails that provide some insight into what is going on and introduces his current shows etc. 
  • http://personalfinance.byu.edu/ This is an excellent and free course on traditional personal finance with a gospel perspective basis. Very good for a broad understanding of traditional financial planning. This is not a link for current/future world events, but regardless of what the future holds, we still have to be responsible for all of our financial lives.

  • Book-The Scriptures. Some of the books listed below are helpful in finding prophecies of the future in the scriptures. Here is an excerpt from Harold B. Lee summarizing some of the key scriptures on the signs of the times.
  • Book-"Bonds That Make Us Free" by C. Terry Warner (2001). This book has changed my life. Although it doesn't do much for understanding current and future events of the world, nor even money or personal finance, it has blessed me with an understanding that money has little to do with the purpose of life. A crucial discovery for being able to manage money properly.  
  • Book-"Inspired Prophetic Warnings" by Duane S. Crowther (orig 1987, revised 2000). This is a paradigm shifter. 
  • Book-"An Enemy Hath Done This" by Ezra Taft Benson (1969). President Benson has an amazing understanding of the challenges facing our nation apparently for the last 42+ years. This book boiled my blood more than any other so far (as of May 2011). 
  • Book-"Prophecy, Key to the Future" by Duane S. Crowther (orig. 1962, revised 1996) is another angle on upcoming events, but from more of a modern-day prophet perspective.
  • Book-"The Creature from Jekyll Island" by G. Edward Griffin (orig. 1994, revised 1995). This one cuts to the chase on money and the Fed.
  • Book-"Prophets, Principles and National Survival" Compiled by Jerreld L. Newquist. Want to know why our nation is not going to survive? Similar in effect to "An Enemy Hath Done This."
  • Book-"Crash Proof 2.0" by Peter D. Schiff (2009). Schiff is an Austrian economics adherent. I just got this in today (5/19/11) and it looks to be a paradigm shifter. 
  • http://www.stansberryresearch.com/ A subscription newsletter. Porter Stansberry gets it. Here is a sample issue that they have authorized I share with anyone March 2010 (see June 27, 2011 digest for permission).
  • http://www.independentlivingnews.com/ A subscription newsletter. Lee Bellinger is the driving force.

  • Book-"The Cleansing of America" by W. Cleon Skousen (2010). Originally published in 1994 only for his family. Upon Skousen's death he told his children to publish it to the world when the time was right. Apparently that was 2010.
  • Book-"The New Capitalist Manifesto" by Umair Haque (2011). Although there is some good stuff here, I almost prefer his blog as he seems to have softened his message a bit for the publishers (still well worth the read). (blog: http://blogs.hbr.org/haque/)
